In the mid-nineteenth century, specifically in 1859, Narciso Montoriol the Catalan surprised the maritime world with its first submarine. Built from wood and pushed by hand, it was resolved a few decades later by Spanish engineer from Murcia, Isaac Peral, who designed in 1888 the first electric-powered steel submarine, to revolutionize the deep sea.
